About Visiting Vermont
Our Story, And We're Sticking To It
The owner of Visiting Vermont, Ian Clark, is not a crotchety old Vermonter, though he plays one while on vacation as often as he can. He's not a total fraud, he comes from a long line of Vermonters, and gets back to Vermont as often as he can. His family comes from up around West Newbury and he has relatives scattered around Vermont. But, you've heard the story before. Ian grew up and married a girl from away - not that there's anything wrong with that - and he's moved down to New Jersey.
Ian and his wife, Lee Clark, have done a lot of things to make a living and are looking forward to trying more before they're done. Lee used to work "for the government" as they say when they can't tell you what they're up to. Then she went off to work in the US Embassy in Moscow for a bit. She followed that up as a photo editor for New York Daily News, the country's sixth largest daily newspaper. Now she does freelance photo editing, shoots some stock photography and helps Ian out building websites.
Ian runs a web development company called Steam Power Design. Steam Power makes websites, databases and office networks for small businesses around the country. He's been at it for a while now, he started up back when Amazon was still just a river. While he was waiting for the Internet to be invented, he dabbled in photo labs. He thinks the most interesting labs were the ones he owned on own or with partners, but many people are more impressed that he used to run the photo lab for an obscure goverment agency at Langely AFB. Known only by their intitals, NASA, they've taken pictures of just about everything in the known universe.
Visiting Vermont started as just a collection of notes about our favorite places around Vermont and kept growing. We'll keep at it as long as we can, or until we've seen all there is to see in Vermont. Course, everything on our site is just our two cents worth, take it or leave it as you please. If you spot an error, let us know and we'll be glad to fix it.
Some folks like to pay us to run advertisements on our site, and we like to encourage that. If you think you've got something our visitors might be interested in, let us know about it, and we'll send you some details. We're fussy about what we're willing to advertise, your product or service must be related to Vermont somehow or to travel to be a good fit. And, while we suppose we have the time to squabble with advertisers over every little thing, we'd prefer to use it for something else. If you can't get along with your customers or your publishers - or, most importantly - our visitors, we'd prefer you take your ads somewhere else.
If you're looking to get ahold of us, you can email us at

You can try calling us at (732) 985-4954, but being a Vermonter at heart, Ian answers only when he wants to.
After all, he had his phone but in for his convenience.
